‘Hamletmachine’ set

1986

Set including a table and 4 chairs in perforated steel.

Table – H. 28.93 x W. 144.1 x D. 12 in.

Chair – H. 38 x W. 11.42 x D. 18.50 in.

The Hamletmachine table and chairs by Bob Wilson, created in 1986 for performances in New York and Hamburg, are among the four original prototypes. One table from NYU was destroyed, but our piece from the Thalia Theater was sold to Thomas Ammann in 1989 along with four chairs. The other two tables remain in Bob Wilson’s collection. A version produced by XO in the late 1980s has become iconic. This set, uniquely held in private hands, is exceptional.
